About Us
PARENTS HELPING PARENTS
Over the last several years, many excellent parent-led organizations and grass-root efforts have been initiated by caring individuals in our state to help families affected by autism.
These organizations have formed for a variety of reasons and purposes including providing a voice and support for families that live in a specific community or providing leadership for a specific issue or cause.
Some groups are loosely organized by a few parents who meet regularly. Other groups have obtained 501(c)3 status, have paid staff, and have established themselves as a key resource in their communities.
As we have all learned, there is a tremendous benefit for families learning and sharing with other families.
OKLAHOMA FAMILY CENTER FOR AUTISM
The OFCA is a newly created leadership forum that operates on this same principle. It provides a way for organizations operating in the state of Oklahoma to share information and help each other advance the cause of families affected by autism. The OFCA is a resource and leadership forum for group leaders in Oklahoma who have a passion to serve their communities.
Parent-led organization groups will continue to operate independently. The OFCA is simply a leadership forum and communication hub for sharing and addressing important issues.
OUR WEBSITE
Some time ago, the Edmond Family Center for Autism embarked on an aggressive web development project. We enlisted the help of Back40 Design and we began to think "big"! We had a desire to create something of real value. After realizing the breadth and depth of the project, we united with the Oklahoma Autism Network and formed the Oklahoma Family Center for Autism to enlist the help of other state leaders. After months of hard work, here we are! We hope this new website is valuable to all parents and professionals throughout our state. It is a "work in progress" and like many first releases, we know we have not yet "arrived". Please let us know if there are things you would like to see on the website.
